Kapil Lakhani - Personal TrainerThe old saying goes, ‘old habits die hard’ and lucky for me my old habits are being active at every stage in my life. From outdoor activities to indoor training routines I have always enjoyed physical and mental challenges. Don’t get me wrong, I do not train 7 days a week and 12 hours a day, instead I train smarter but consistently aiming for better health for life. My fascination about mind and body challenges began when I took up martial arts in 1995 eventually leading me to completing a BSc in Science and Social Science of sport and exercise at the University of Surrey. I increased my practical client skills further by working part time in local health clubs in a gym environment, learning the ways of traditional and modern methods of training from trainers and coaches. |

After graduating, I took up a full time job as a trainer whilst still continuing to diversify my knowledge with regards to various training methods in order to maximise performance, achieve goals, increase mobility and above all, the application of the powerful tool given free to all us, ‘our mind’.
My experiences did not only stop at working with individuals who wanted to improve their healthy physique or their maximal lifts or their marathon time but also took a turn into working with special population/disability, clients with medical conditions.
I work with GP referred patients (GP referral scheme) and recently qualified to exercise programming with the disabled population part of the IFI (inclusive fitness initiative). This qualifies me to work with patients suffering from arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, arthritis, parkinsons disease, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, asthma and cardio obstructive pulmonary disease.
I am a member of American council on exercise as well as the register of exercise professionals, UK and not to mention British lung foundation accreditation. |
